Welcome

We are grateful for your interest in Young Adults at Covenant!

Our goal is to continually build a community of friends who serve together, learn together, and share life’s ups and downs together. We would love for you to be a part of it.

Whether you are new to Charlotte or have been here for your whole life, you’ll find a community built on faith, compassion, generosity, and love here at Covenant. We strive to be a place where each and every person feels supported, while also being a ministry which serves the wider community and world.

Community learning

At Covenant Young Adults, we believe that we are called to learn with and from each other. That’s why we have multiple opportunities for community learning throughout the year. We hope you’ll take advantage of these events: they are a wonderful way to grow in faith while getting to know some great people.

Small Groups

Covenant is a large congregation, but we understand the importance of small, close-knit, communities. That’s why we encourage our members and participants to be involved in a small group. These groups are great places to build friendships, learn, and pray. Below are our group options

YA Couples Group: This group is led by Thomas Lineberger. Thomas enjoys hiking, camping, and dog walks with his two pups. He and his wife, Meagan, have loved being a part of the Covenant community and are drawn to the Young Adult program. In an effort to bring together their diverging calendars and to still plug in at church, Thomas and Meagan launched this YA Couples Group as a space to engage and grow together. They meet every other Wednesday at 7:30PM at Covenant. Reach out to Thomas Lineberger to learn more.

PATH: This group is led by Grace Williams. Grace has been a member of Covenant since January 2020 when she was immediately drawn in by the incredible Young Adult Community after moving to Charlotte post graduate school. Grace loves leaded the PATH YA women’s group, where a group of early 30s ‘ish’ women (emphasis on the ‘ish’) spend time together in scripture and in fellowship intentionally building community in Christ as we navigate this phase of young adulthood together. PATH meets the 1st and 3rd Monday evening of the month on Zoom and gathers for in person socials at members’ homes or at places in town to spend time together in person on an adhoc basis, as well. Reach out to Grace Williams to learn more.

YA Women’s Life Group: This group is led by Mary Kate Sykes, Covenant’s Pastoral Resident for Education. Mary Kate grew up in Charlotte and at Covenant and has a deep love for this community of faith. Her own faith has been shaped by small groups and specifically, though opportunities with other women seeking to live faithfully during an often-demanding time of life. This group meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 6:30PM on the Covenant campus. Folks who are interested gather for dinner at Open Table beforehand at 5:45PM. Reach out to Mary Kate Sykes to learn more.

Additional Small Groups are being held during Lent, including a group for YA Men and an additional Group for YA Couples.  Click here to join a Lenten Life Group!

Monthly (or so) at McCreesh Place

Covenant YA partners with Supportive Housing Communities (SHC) and specifically, with McCreesh Place, Charlotte's first permanent supportive housing community, located in NoDa.  McCreesh Place is home to 90 formerly homeless men and women and we are grateful to call them friends and neighbors.  We spend time with folks at McCreesh Place monthly, participating in a range of activities that offer space for relationship building - in the past, this has included working in the garden, hosting BINGO and sharing meals.  Contact us to learn more about upcoming opportunities.

Seasonal Service Projects

Throughout the year, we gather to support significant group projects such as Covenant Impacts Charlotte (our church-wide day of service), Habitat for Humanity builds, or environmental cleanups. We'd love to have you participate in our next one!

Global and Regional Mission Work

We encourage young adults to participate in Covenant-sponsored mission trips around the world. These offerings occur throughout the year and are a great way to serve, learn, and build connections across our church community.

Fellowship

At Covenant Young Adults we strive to cultivate meaningful, lasting, and faith-centered friendships. As such, we create regular opportunities for you to meet new people and strengthen existing relationships. We hope you will consider joining us! Our fellowship events are always open to all young adults and they are a great way to plug in if you are new to Charlotte or Covenant.

First Sunday Community Meal
On the first Sunday of each month we gather at a local restaurant at 12:30 to share a meal and conversation together. It is a great way to catch-up, meet new friends, and explore the city! Contact us to learn more about the next one!

Seasonal and Special Events
Throughout the year we host some great special and seasonal events, such as our Spring Social, Fall Kick Off, Friendsgiving, and Christmas Party. We'd love to welcome you to our next one!

Quarterly Happy Hours

Every three months we offer an informal happy hour at one of Charlotte's amazing breweries! These casual Thursday evening gatherings are a fun way to connect and get ready for the week ahead!
