Sundays

Join us on Sunday mornings and evenings, where we gather to learn more about our faith and each other.

At adult Sunday School classes, we dig deeper into the Bible, exploring its passages and discovering how they inform us as we head into our week. We talk about the world around us - and the world close to us - and how we can navigate it as thoughtful Christians. We laugh and share and learn. We drink a lot of free coffee.

Throughout our campus, you'll also find preschool through high school youth discovering and strengthening their faith together in age-appropriate classes. Learn more about children and youth ministries, as well as more adult fellowship groups, in our Connect tab.

Come share a Sunday with us. Here's a look at what's offered this spring:

Adult classes meet at 9:30 and 10:45 am in our Fellowship Hall. Some groups at specific life stages, such as parents of young children, meet at the same times across the Covenant campus.

Bible Basics: A Guide to Reading the Bible and Listening for the Word of God, (9:30) led by Annette Bedford. For people who want to understand what’s in the Bible, how it’s organized, and how to read it as a person of faith. (April 15-May 27 in FH 105).

Theology & Ecology: If We’re All Going to Heaven, Does God Care How We Treat the Earth? (9:30) Explore critical issues in living in harmony with God’s creation, including water and land conservation and sustainable food sources. The class will include local guest leaders and culminates with a service project. (April 15-May 27 in FH 207)

Stories of Hope in a World Wide Web of Mission Partnerships: An interactive, inter-generational journey through Covenant’s work with Christ in the world. (9:30 and 10:45) In the first week, the class begins April 15 by cultivating a spirituality of abundance as a source for addressing food scarcity, led by Jessica Patchett. This is followed by three weeks of lessons (at 9:30) and related service experiences (at 10:30), such as Stop Hunger Now; and conclude with an exploration of ways to engage in the WWW of Covenant’s Mission Partnerships led by Carla Leaf, Henry Owen, and Jessica Patchett. Children, as well as those who worship at 9:30 services, are invited to come for the service project at 10:45 each week. (April 15 – May 13 in FH 203)

Ages and Stages (9:30 a.m.)

Foundations, for couples in their 20s and 30s, is joining the Stories of Hope class.

PEOPLE (50s-60s) in FH 201 to look at grace through the works of Frederick Buechner, Philip Yancey, Anne Lamott and others.

Fellowship (Mostly 60s and older; open to all adults) in FH 107.

Middle and high school youth meet for Sunday School from September-May on the third floor of the Education Wing. They are divided into three classes: Middle School (grades 6-8) (EW 301), and High School (grades 9-12) (EW307).

Elementary school children meet at 9:30 am on the second floor (EW 207) of our Education Wing from September-May for workshop rotation Bible lessons.  In the summer worship training and mission projects are offered at 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Infants through preschoolers learn Bible stories through stories, crfats, play and music on the first floor of the Education Wing from 9:30-12 p.m. (Childcare is offered for infant-K for our 8:30 worship service as well.)

Coming for Summer (June 10-Aug. 19)

Refresh: Practical downloads for social & spiritual networking in the body of Christ. A Two-Part Summer Retreat for wannabe, new and experienced small group facilitators, Sunday School teachers and Bible study facilitators.

Join the Ministry of Education for two inspiring days of spiritual refreshment, practical guidance, and connecting with new and experienced teachers and facilitators. Jessica Patchett, Michelle Askew, Suzanne Henderson, Kim Spivey, and others will help you find your spiritual leadership style, demystify Bible study, and let you practice “holding the space” for people to have honest and dynamic conversations. Also, learn how you might teach or facilitate in one of our newly forming Small Groups or Impact Bible Study groups. Please RSVP to Michelle Williamson for this exciting two-part summer retreat that will give you tools to help chase away the fear of guiding others in Christian community.

Attend either: Sunday, June 3 or Sunday, July 29 from 12-3:30 p.m. AND Saturday, August 25.

Sundays

9:30 a.m. The Wired Word: Weigh-in on current events and how to respond as a member of the community of faith.

The Wired Word is a nationally-produced curriculum that engages current news events, Biblical wisdom, and the perspectives of class participants. If you sign up in advance to attend any part of this Summer Sunday School series, you will receive a weekly e-mail with a preview of that week’s lesson, articles you can read online, and scripture passages to review before class. However, like a morning radio show, you can show up and tune in to this class without any prior preparation, and in fact, sometimes that makes things even more interesting! If you would like to facilitate one of these summer sessions, you will receive a pre-created curriculum with plenty of material to share and questions to ask to get conversation going. Sign-up now to be a Sunday Facilitator or get on the weekly e-mail list.

10:45 a.m.  Faith in the Modern Family

Appropriate for all ages and all kinds of modern families. We’ll watch clips from the TV show, hear great speakers from the Ministry of Education, and have table topics available to help families and friends talk about family issues and how they can be transformed by the life of faith. We know you may be traveling this summer, so come when you can – each week will be a new experience and we’ll be excited to see you. If you and your family have the gift of hospitality, sign up to be a “Modern Family” host family. You’ll welcome other families into the gathering and make sure everyone can find a seat in the living room (Fellowship Hall). Sign-up now to be a ‘Modern Family’ Host (no teaching required!)
